The couple was married at the Montage Hotel in Laguna Beach, Calif., on Sunday, multiple outlets reported. Copeland, 33, is a dancer for the American Ballet Theatre.
Congratulations are in order for Misty Copeland!
The ballerina wed her longtime boyfriend, Olu Evans Sunday, July 31 in Laguna Beach, California.
The 33-year-old and her new husband have been together for over 10 years and had a beautiful ceremony near the ocean.
A source told E! News, it was a “small and intimate wedding” with only 100 guests. Her gown was designed by Inbal Dror and she wore Christian Louboutin shoes.
The dancer — who became the first African American woman to be principal ballerina in the American Ballet Theater — has always hoped her wedding would be low-key.
“It’s interesting that I’m a ballerina, which is so girly and feminine and what every little girl dreams of,” she said before her big day.
“But it’s a character I’m playing, and that’s so much fun to be that. It’s, I guess, how people envision their wedding days, and that’s my life.”
The New York City resident got exactly what she wanted out of her big day — to “not feel like I’m in a tutu.”
“So, for me, I just want to have a simple, as easy-going day as I can have and just not have it be a big show.”
We hope you got all you wanted and more on your special day, Misty!
