Khloe Kardashian’s Good American Jeans Made Apparel History With $1 Million First Day

Khloe Kardashian’s new denim line, Good American, launched in October and after just one month on the market, the brand proved itself as the biggest denim launch in apparel history.

The fledgling brand made $1 million on the day it released to the public, according to a press release.

Partnering with designer Emma Grede, Khloe’s plan for the brand is simple. “We’ve created a product that works on a girl who’s size 00 and looks equally great in a size 24,” she said.

Good American jeans come in a wide range of sizes, from 00-24. They are offered in three cuts – Good Cuts (Boyfriend), Good legs (skinny) and Good Waist (high-rise). The collection, which sells from $149 to $215, plans to expand the line to include denim shorts, jackets and skirts.

The 32-year old spoke at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Next Gen Summit last month, recalling how difficult it was to shop when she was at a heavier weight.

“I was what I would say is average size at the time,” Khloe said. “I was very proud of who I was. And I felt, like, so shamed at the time to go into boutiques or go denim shopping. It was something that was super hard for me.”

“I remember the chubby girl in me, and I’m fighting for my chubby self,” she admitted. “[Creating the collection] wasn’t about having a new denim line. It was about doing something that empowers other women, and something that is really going to break down barriers.”

Offering jeans in larger sizes is huge for the brand. And the ladies say they want to focus on comfort and making curves look beautiful.

“We’re a brand with a specific purpose. We want our customers to look and feel great in anything they ever wear from Good American,” said Grede in the press release. “Making curves look good is not just something we say, it’s a demand our product has to deliver for our customers. We eat and sleep fit. Khloe and I believe passionately in creating the full size range and marketing our brand using a diverse mix of amazing women.”

“What’s really encouraging is the customer response,” Khloe adds. “When people try the jeans they fall in love. The reviews speak for themselves and that’s something I am really proud of.”

Khloe is happy with the success over the last month, but says there is a long way to go. She noted that while the brand started off strong, it’s “Only the beginning.”
