Take the Giants in battle vs. rival

Week 6 opens with a handicapping quandary as our beloved NFL home underdogs are 16-6 against the spread (72.7 percent), yet we’re being asked to support the underachieving Giants (1-4 straight up, 2-3 ATS).

I believe the Giants are the correct side, and not just because they are home ’dogs. The Giants actually played what I’d call a “winning game” (which I think of just like in horse handicapping where I can forgive a horse if it loses a head-bob but otherwise “ran a winning race”) at Carolina as it took a 63-yard Graham Gano field goal to beat them as time expired.

Besides, Philly (2-3 SU, 1-4 ATS) isn’t so special this season, failing to cover its last four games, including failures as road favorites at Tampa Bay and Tennessee. And if the Eagles couldn’t “flip the switch” in a must-win game against the Vikings last week, there’s no reason to think the Giants can’t play a “winning game” against them, too.

The play: Giants +3.
